The Best Congress Money Can Buy
written by Jim Berry
I recently received the following email from a friend. I thought it was so
preposterous & sad that I thought I would pass it onto you:

The Best Congress Money Can Buy...

(Based on records prior to the 1999 summer break)

- 29 members of Congress have been accused of Spousal Abuse

- 7 have been arrested for Fraud

- 19 have been accused of writing Bad Checks

- 117 have Bankrupted at least two (2) Businesses

- 3 have been arrested for Assault

- 71 have Credit Reports so bad that they can't qualify for a Credit Card

- 14 have been arrested on Drug Related Charges

- 8 have been arrested for Shoplifting

- 21 are currently Defendants in Lawsuits

- In 1998 alone, 84 were stopped for Drunk Driving but released after they
claimed Congressional Immunity

Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be
changed regularly and for the same reason.

End of Email sent to me.

So is it any wonder that if these are the signals that our "leaders" are
sending us that we are in such a state of disrepair?

Whatever happened to being a Statesman?

With the onset of the Internet more information will be available to us from
the grassroots sectors.

I don't know how much of an impact this will have on the changing of
cultural and societal rules but most likely people won't be able to hide as
much. The old saying of "news travels fast in a hospital" will be even more true
for the Net.

The breakdown of the '60's was in name only. I believe that with the onset
of the Net...the Walls Will Come Tumbling...

As I write - governments are desperately trying to make up new Laws to
handle what has already been happening and they can't keep up. Think of what
it will be like in 10 years.

The Politicians will be bottled up with so much information they won't be
able to do "business as usual".

You will see a breakdown of the 2 party system.

You will see chaos and leader's mouths left hanging open not knowing what to
say.

There will be clamp downs.

But keep in mind that can't keep your thumb on people...because they slip
from under it.
