Description of the video: a welcome to our friends. It explains the approach to these extemporaneous multimedia experiments. (e.g. the bass player: though she had never played a bass before, we sat her in a chair, handed her the instrument, and started recording.)

While stumbling through the Labyrinth, I bumped into an unknown. And, this is what she said:

Pehaps the reason we can't understand non-linear time is because our perception of space is linear too.

not only is time not linear but space isn't either. in other words, we see getting from one point to another in a linear fashion...from A to B to C... and so on, linearly.... but what if the construct of space was not matter... then our perceptions would not hold true.

Point A, B, and C could be simultaneously reached at the same point in time. the key, here, is to realize that BOTH time and space are non-linear... not just one... but BOTH.

this can be best understood by realizing that matter is a "fluke" in the otherwise empty universe...and that its alternate form, energy, may be the prevalent state and not the exception.

therefore, our "perceptions" of linear time and space are distorted by our physicality. we could understand the concept by seeing a two dimensional universe in which there was no up or down... like a Parcheesi board...if we were flat like the Parcheesi chips then we would not understand the concept of up and down, would be? if a voice spoke to us from above or below... we would not know in what direction to look.

we have been trying to understand reality from our physical perspective. suddenly, i realized that it wasn't just the time constrictions but the spatial ones too... and, that is why if the limitations for space being linear were removed then the limitations for time being linear would disappear, as well.

i knew about curved spacetime and the theory of relativity and understood the experiments that had been taken to prove that light bends when it encounters mass in matter and pretty much understood the distortion of time when it approached the speed of light. but even though, i knew that space was also distorted... it seemed just that... a "distortion" not reality...

i thought the result of nearing the speed of light resulted in distortion of time and space...but what i didn't realize, and now do, is that the distortion occurred here in the physical manifestation of energy. WE ARE THE DISTORTION !

Description of the video: A full-length piece with a high quality soundtrack... and... oh, yeah... it was assemble using the principles of chaos theory.

Here is a link to some smaller downloads... but, please be careful you don't get lost!

I heard sum fizisist say:

The word "chaos" is sometimes taken to mean the opposite of "cosmos", in that the latter term has connotations of "order". Until the last few decades, chaotic systems have not been studied nearly as much as ordered systems, perhaps because chaotic systems are far more difficult to understand...

What is a chaotic system?

Looking at the rising smoke from a cigarette illustrates some of the differences between ordered and chaotic systems. Initially the smoke rises in a smooth upward flow (laminar flow), which breaks down a few inches above the tip of the cigarette into a disordered, turbulent motion(turbulent flow). This is an example of a transition from an ordered system into a chaotic one. A stream of water flowing out of an appropriately adjusted faucet exhibits similar behavior, which is ubiquitous in a host of phenomena, both man-made and natural. The weather systems of the atmosphere (which are intertwined with the heat and mass flows in the oceans) are chaotic. A system of more than two bodies orbiting under each other under their mutual gravitational attraction is also chaotic, by extension the entire solar system is a chaotic!

One non-technical definition of a chaotic system goes as follows: A chaotic system is one in which a tiny change can have a huge effect. Thus the oft heard statement that a butterfly in China can cause a hurricane in the Atlantic.

In many ways a musical number is a chaotic system. It has a number of `attractors' and there is some sort of order about these `attractors'. For instance, there are repeating sets of chord changes and a repeating beat, or meter. Nonetheless, these patterns do not repeat themselves exactly throughout a piece of music.

The beat of the music is not sterile and exactly repeating. It is like a heart beat. It slows down or speeds up a little. Often so little that it is not noticeable. The heart beat is chaotic, it does not keep perfect time. Like the heart, if the beat gets too far out of line, the music sounds bad. But also if the beat is too repetitive, the music sounds bad and is boring.

The same logic applies to the chord progressions typically played by piano or guitar, or even an orchestra in a classical piece. Although the chord pattern may repeat, different inversions, voicing, dynamics and rhythms are used over the pattern so that it does not repeat exactly. This is what makes the music interesting.

Music is not random (chaos does NOT mean random) yet it is not periodic (repeating).

Description of the video: A full-length movie. A unique piece in the sense that it was created based on the ideas of the title - two individuals simultaneously distorting their own discipline. A 100% spontaneous piece... the film shoot and the soundtrack were written and record on-the-fly and captured directly to the harddrive of a computer.

So, I asked Sidd, "how much energy could be created from my mass?"

His answer:

heehee
first take your weight in kilos
160lbs=160/2.2kg=72.3kg
then
put in c=3x10e8 meter/s so c^2=9x10e16
so E=72.3x9x10e16=6.5e18 joule

"how much izzat," e asks...
well lets see if we turned psehelp into energy we could run a 200 watt computer for a billion years

"well, ow long izzat," e asks...
mmm .. the earth is about 4 billion years ... so we can run our 200 watt machine for an appreciable fraction of the age of the planet

or, we could run a billion computers for a year....

As I thank Sidd, I think to myself, "hmmmm... perhaps if I try... try to use my mind's eye...?"

Heading, heading ever, forever down.
I hope I don't get sucked, quite right in....
Quite, right in.
At least, not quite yet.

The plug on my reality has been pulled. I begin getting sucked right in. As the whirlpool pulls me under, I catch a glimpse of The Unknown flitting on the surface:

there is no such thing as luck only being prepared when opportunity presents itself....
Poof! I am gone.

Forever walking round the paths,
Trying to find my way out.
Forever walking round the paths,
I will never get out....
Of the labyrinth?

After what felt like a lifetime of living an endless loop, The Unknown appeared to me again.

your choice of the labyrinth, as mine, was an idea of interconnectedness but in a haphazard way...just like the mind works...it jumps from here to there with no apparent connections. but, if one looks hard enough the connection is there... beneath the surface or in many subterranean levels... but there, nonetheless.
Then perhaps... if I try... try to use my mind's eye? I can make the walls come tumbling down?

Before I get a chance to answer, I'm placed in a chair... under bright lights... I'm handed an instrument... there are people staring at me. Why are they looking at me?

When I look down, there is something very strange. My gender has changed. But before there is time to analyze the situation, the music begins.

I was nervous about performing, playing a bass guitar for the first time with experienced musicians, I didn't want to fail.

Once I started to get the feel of the guitar though, I wanted MORE MORE MORE!!!!

I want to keep playing... and to keep getting better and better.

I want to be a rock n roll star!!

that point
"Oh," I said. "Me, too. But, how did you see the point?" Time Wave Zero

Here is a quantified interpretation of history's vicissitudes, the mutability of life or, if you prefer, a graphic representation of the universe's rhythm here on our tiny planet.

We are documenting the rhythm of life based on concepts gleaned from the I Ching .

The graph that accompanies was generated by McKenna's TWZ software and portrays this rhythm on a chronologically decreasing scales.

All lines appear to closely approach the horizontal axis sometime in the first several decades of the 21st century. You'll notice there's a distinct lack of apparent effort to extend the graph much beyond that point. Apparently holistically inspired fractals don't reach negative values? Or, maybe you just have to buy the software to see what happens next.

As I open my mouth to ask him his name, I feel the paradigm begin to shift, and...

THWART TO THE HEAD!

There's some doubt,
If it even remains.

As they start to penetrate my skull, i slip into a dream. Perhaps things aren't quite as they seem? I mean... is this really happening to me? Is this me? Is this all of me? How can I verify my place in time? What will become of me?

Slipping into unconsciousness, I get a glimpse of the future. I can see the front page of The Paradigm Times. An article catches my eye...

MAN FOUND WITH HALF A MIND
by ALASTAIR BRIAN CROXTON: C of E baptized; BA philosophy graduate
Currently claiming DLA (sickness benefit); British; legal driver; w/Mac
Today it was unveiled that psychologists have discovered a human with fifty percent of his mind missing.

The man, from the South of England, was identified as suffering from the previously unheard of syndrome when he was found wandering the streets in a state of shock. Current theories suggest that someone had stolen exactly half of the man's mind during a smash and grap raid. Several thoughts were entirely missing from his mind, although his brain remained intact.

The remaining fraction of his mind made him able to begin to articulate sentences, but he could not finish what he began to say. When asked how he felt, he replied that he was "feeling okay, but". Further questions put to him by the press were met with a similar response. "I just don't seem to be able to finish what I", he said. In one test, the man was asked to tell a joke. he began "a funny thing happened to me on the way... I came across a... I said to the... and he replied... "that's"... and "the funniest thing", but no-one could see how that could be construed as amusing.

Efforts to trace the missing part of the man's psyche are continuing in earnest, though the police need more information from the public.

Could this be what becomes of me?

Description of the video: live music performance motion pictures combined with images of a vision. Looking to my right, I notice another. He is traveling in the same direction and appears to be some sort-of-a wise man... er, a... a wise woman? So I ask her, "where does this end?"

Where does it all begin? Did it ever begin? Did it ever end? Did it ever pretend?

Life cannot pretend ... people pretend ... people build shadows around themselves and each other ... people are deceased by their own failure to find what they have lost ... to not want to find what is theirs is a crime ... they commit the crime and in doing so commit themselves to insanity.

Insanity comes in many guises ... what is normality? Does it exist ... no it is just a word made up for shadows by shadows ... they think they are safe hidden from themselves ... they want to blame someone but they don't know how ... or understand?

They arrived here just like everyone else ... naked... needing ... open minded ... slowly growing gray and conceited ... wake up ... work ... blend in ... don't let your emotions show ... it was a mistake ... this emotion thing ... I didn't ask to have feelings I can't let people into my weakness ... I am strong I am tough ... I am super shadow ... ha, ha, ha.

Ring around the rosy,
A pocket full of posies,
Ashes... ashes,
We all fall down.

And as fast as she had come, she had gone. Or, had she?

Description of the video: an adaptation of the traditional children's classic.

The light the shadows... the life... the death? I pleaded to her to come back. I thought I could hear her say:

Schoolyard ... it's all a game ... it's all such pain ... it's all taxpayers money down the drain ... their running riot ... got no control ... can't keep them quiet ... can't tame the soul ... but we can kill it ... oh yeah ... with education ... special tactics ... and drastic action.

But, we gotta be subtle ... after all, we are the government employed ... pillars of the community ... have to beat "it" out of them in a way no one can see ... and he's always getting picked on, and we're turning a blind eye. If we don't run to this one then eventually his soul will die ... let the kids do it for us ... the ones that we've affected ... the ones that sat at home lonely and rejected

The parents got the ball rolling ... they never felt protected ... keep bullying and scolding ... best not give consoling ...ahh I must be dreaming ... I hurt ... I ache ... I am ... I see what's going wrong in the world ... I know ... I don't belong in this place ... there isn't much that I can do ... but there is much that i can save ... he doesn't fight back like the other boys ... he cries tears like the girls and for that he pays. And, now he is starting to slip away ... and everyone is laughing ... but they've no idea ...their too far gone towards the gray ... their to far gone into the shadowed world ... they don't know it yet, but one day they will? He wakes up ... he sees the self he left behind ... the crowds of ugly manmade kids ...

... but far away he's gonna fly

... and find the God he feels within ....

somehow he's past that mortal fear ... he feels alive for the first time ... now he knows it will take more to kill his soul than a few splats of Grey matter perched inside some offending head of public status that's undeserving of their false position of authority and a bunch of hapless kids that don't even know that their entire act has been instigated and infiltrated and whacked into them with lashings of long dried up tongues from garbage mouths ... from sorry little souls that lost their way and don't know or care to find the way home ... too scared of what is real ... the corridors of power? There is no power. No one has the right to claim it as their own. It belongs to the people. It's what burns the coal ... and fires the soul with unseen forces. He knows he's a long way from home ... but he's free ... for now ... and he's gonna find the answers ... he has to ... if he's gonna save himself, and he has to do that ... if he's gonna save the world ... whatever that means?
Falling deeper into the dark hole ... falling ... smiling ... knowing! Strength of the heart is the best medicine.

I could see myself. I could see the wise men. I could see us getting closer to that point But, could I could see us becoming one? I shouted ahead to the first wise man, "are we in this together?"

Competition and convergence... hmmm... peculiar. The taxonomy and nomenclature of chaos is an inherent element of most every artistic and scientific discipline and environment. But only rarely is the notion of chaos afforded any attention in politics, government or business where it is most manifestly evident.

As a result, we limit our linguistic use of the term "chaos" to those remote and incomprehensible events that happen somewhere out there in another galaxy just before it folds. Or in the micro-sense that we might have an ulcer somewhere in our gastro-intestinal system. Both these venues share a common trait: they're invisible to naked eye under ordinary conditions.

In fact, if it becomes collectively agreed among a sufficient number of observers that a human being's behavior is chaotic, we tag those individuals eccentric or insane... or possibly just in show business. Which is probably why we make allowances for insanity as a potential gift in the arts and sciences, while a dread disease in the other realms mentioned here.

By comparison, if a business entity (a corporation, conglomerate or mult- national firm, or even an entire securities exchange) behaves in a way we could identify as chaotic, we close them down for good as if it never existed, and the taxpayer bites the big one (bankruptcy), or we close it down, then open it back up under a new name, or use the chaos to sell it off so it doesn't have to be shut down, making a profit in the process.

We have laws for all nations to prevent them from becoming chaotic, despite the fact that most modern nations' founders seemed to think that "a little revolution once in a while is a good thing". In politics, you're allowed to be chaotic, within limits that change roughly as often as most of us change clothing. And in the American congress, if you get very chaotic with enough other fellow legislators, you can call it a filibuster with perfect legitimacy and no excuses offered.

It appears that quite a few people all over the world are unwilling to allow this inequity to continue between business and politics, and the rest of us common folk. The resulting behavioral trend toward equality in standards among all human assemblages is part of this thing called convergence.

But wouldn't you know it... business and industry has an alternative application for this "convergence" thing. This is illustrated in the convergence of many elements of related industries, such as mergers among firms in telephone services, cellular phones and systems, Internet services, computer manufacturers, and software manufacturers. Those crazy white collar guys... they always find a way to avert rational humanism with a borrowed piece of terminology.

And of course, there's government... just utter the word "convergence" in geo-political terms in any legislative session on the planet, and you're likely to hear sphincters slam shut on the next continent. Why? Because globalism just means "think" global, but act local. Another way of saying nobody wants to experiment on a global scale just yet with the same type of experience in the former Soviet Union during the past few years.

On the other hand, as is typical of government, none of the nations undergoing alleged democratization during the past few years seemed to have anything resembling a transition plan. Another peculiarity. It seems everybody telepathically decided to democratize at the same relative moment in time after about 10,000 years of semi-recorded human history. For the moment, we'll call that convergence, too.
