The entire Linux test suite is currently under review. In a nutshell, Linux kernels from 2.0.30 up handle 2000 dates quite happily. Anything before that does not. GNU C has the same time_t application problems as other UNIX C libraries. Testing is the only way to resolve this. Like NT, Linux interprets the low order year date and does not maintain the century byte at x'32' of CMOS.
