Directly after installation perform the following modification:
Start - Settings - Control Panel - Regional settings
Date Short date style yyyy-MM-dd (type in this new default) date separator - Time Select hh:mm:ss (select 24 hour time) also check correct time zone is set. This results in \WINDOWS\WIN.INI being set to: [intl] sDate=- sLongDate=dd MMMM yyyy sShortDate=yyyy-MM-dd Option: to allow the date to display as YY-MM-DD when in DOS mode: open an MSDOS prompt from windows, move to the root directory (CD \) and using the E or EDIT editors add COUNTRY=002,,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\COUNTRY.SYS to the CONFIG.SYS.
1. From DOS mode set date/time as 1999-12-31 23:55:
2. Switch off and wait until tickover occurs (+-6 minutes)
3. Switch on and boot Win 98
4. Run Clock application - displays 00:06:55 2000-01-01

Note: There are currently reports of intermittent random date setting problems arising from use of the Date/Time applet. For Year 2000 purposes Cinderella recommends setting date and time from the MSDOS Window and installation of the SLUG2000 Starter Tookit.
