Retrace the Footsteps of Saint John Neumann You
are most cordially invited to join Spiritual Director, Fr. Joseph Tizio,
C.Ss.R., on a seven-day pilgrimage retracing the steps of our beloved Saint
John Neumann. We depart from Philadelphia on Sunday, June 3 after Mass
at the Shrine and a special blessing for all of our pilgrims. Afterwards,
we drive to Buffalo, New York. The next day we travel through the great Niagara frontier, SJN's first assignment to visit churches he founded. Most Reverend Henry Mansell, Bishop of Buffalo, will greet our group at St. Joseph's Cathedral. On Tuesday, June 5 we travel to New York City where we will visit Ellis Island where SJN entered the United States in 1836 and Old Saint Patrick's Cathedral where Bishop DuBois ordained SJN to the priesthood. We plan to visit Saint Alphonsus Church in Baltimore where SJN was consecrated Bishop of Philadelphia and visit the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. where the Reconciliation Chapel is dedicated to our beloved saint. A visit to the recently dedicated Pope John Paul II Cultural Center has been scheduled. We conclude our pilgrimage where it began, in Philadelphia, on Saturday, June 9, to celebrate the 24th Anniversary of SJN's canonization at 11:00 a.m. at Mass celebrated by the Most Reverend Joseph F. Martino, D.D., Auxiliary Bishop of the Archidiocese of Philadelphia. We hope you will be able to join us. |
